Collection: Tom Kelley
The multicultural designer Tom Kelley was born in East Germany. After severe problems with the system there and their consequences (2.5 years in Stasi prison), he moved to the West in the mid-70s. He studied in Aachen, Munich, and Long Beach, California. Since the late 90s, he has lived in Venice, Italy, initially just by chance, to be close to Italian clients. Later, companies from Germany, Austria, Czech Republic, Japan, USA, Holland, Turkey, Indonesia, etc., took him around the world, sharpening his eye for the essential and important things. His Eastern background somehow gives him the ability to find solutions even in difficult situations, finding compromises that lead to final results. All this also applies to all the houses, shops, and stands for fairs he has designed over the years. Just like the reconstruction of the famous Michael Thonet Villa in Bystrice pod Hostynem and the planning of a chair museum in the neighborhood.
